Vicke Mccall

I have been a lifelong horse owner and have competed in both dressage and jumpers.  Before becoming a bodyworker I spent some time working as a riding instructor and horse trainer. I have started youngsters, and I have always been intrigued and drawn to difficult and complicated horses.
I am now a certified bodyworker through one of the most highly respected schools in the industry, and I have studied in California, Maryland, Florida and England to obtain my bodyworker certification.  I'm a FEI permitted Equine Therapist and in addition to bodywork I'm certified in PEMF (Magnawave) for horses, livestock, pets, and humans. I'm also Rocktape certified in Equine Kinesiology Taping. Over the past few years I have also focused on developing a movement retraining program. My goal with this program is to create a more well balanced and capable equine athlete by combining my bodyworker experience and understanding of equine anatomy and movement patterns, with my knowledge as a rider and trainer.

MOVEMENT RETRAINING

Learning about equine anatomy and bodywork has changed how I view horses, their posture and how they move, I've been a rider my entire life in both jumpers and dressage and felt like I had a very good understanding of what a correctly moving horse should look like. They more I've learned about equine anatomy, however, the more aware I've become of how often horses work in poor posture and develop compensatory movement patterns in an attempt to continue to please us under saddle. I no longer see difficult and complicated horses, or horses that struggle with a certain task or movement, as strictly having training issues, but often find that the horse's difficulties are caused by movement dysfunction. Address the movement dysfunction the behavioral problem or training issue often resolves it self.

BODYWORK

My equine body work incorporates sport massage with advanced soft tissue remodeling techniques, joint and spinal mobilization, as well as acupressure. These techniques help realign the fibers of the muscle and lengthen the connective tissue. It aids in breaking up scar tissue, adhesions, and myofascial restrictions that limit the natural movement of the muscle. In addition to releasing muscular tension and restrictions I put heavy focus on mobilizing the spine activating, shut down muscles, and improving range of motion.
